ULTIMATE VOLLEYBALL CLUB

Why should I choose Ultimate Volleyball Club?

UVC’s philosophy

is that volleyball is not just to provide a love and knowledge of the game but is a tool to teach life skills.  We take pride in each girl and want to help develop Character, leadership, communication, athletic ability, teamwork and to compete to the best of their ability each time they set foot on a court.

How many teams does UVC have and how many players are on a team?

We will have an 18’s team, 16’s team ,15's team ,14’s team, 12's team.  We will try to have no more than 12 girls on a team.  Also depending on tryouts teams may change a little.

What are club fees and what does it cover? (we are a non-profit that is tax exempt. Therefore your daughter can get sponsors and they can get a tax deduction)

2013-2014 club fees are $1825.  The fee covers all tournament entry fees (Which also include Cactus Classic in Tucson for 12’s and 14’s, Volleyball Festival for all of them), gym fees, coaching fees, uniforms. (uniform include long sleeve, short sleeve, shoes, bag and practice shirt). There is a $50 USAV membership due you have to have for tryouts. Out of state tournaments run about $500 addition for each one. (includes transportation, tournament fee, hotel). Our policy is that the team stays together with chaperons in each room .

UVC is participating at this time in only in state tournaments for 14U.  The older teams may go out of state after teams are picked. We believe the girls are getting plenty of tournament play and this way we can keep costs down.  We would love to be able to go out of state and are working on getting sponsors.  If we do we would try to go to Colorado and possibly others.

When are payments due?

There will be an initial payment up front of $400 upon acceptance to the club and then 4 monthly payments of $350 for January, February, March and April.   When your daughter is offered a contract there will be more detailed information. You will receive a $100 off dues if paid all upfront. Also for each additional child after the 1st $100 off dues. if you are a traveling team costs will be $500 for each additional tournament, that will include tournament fee, hotel and transportation.  We do take credit cards—Visa, MasterCard and Discover

Where and when do they practice?

We will practice two to three times a week at Barry Goldwater High School 2820 W Rose Garden Phoenix AZ 85027.

Does every player play?

That is our desire.  Everybody does not play equally but they will get a chance to play during a tournament.  Club is competitive and the girls have an opportunity every practice to exhibit what they can and will bring to the tournaments.

What should be the involvement of parents?

To be supportive of your daughter, team, coach and club. Have your daughter at practice and tournaments on time.  What to say before a match: play hard, have fun, I love you!  What to say after the match:  You are fun to watch.  What do you want to drink or eat, I love you!  If there is a concern your daughter has she needs to bring it to her coach. If it cannot be resolved then set up a time to discuss it.  DO NOT take it up before or after a tournament.  If you have an issue as a parent you need to set a time and ask questions do not attack your coach let them explain. They are the authority. Let’s all be good role models and remember this is a SPORT.

How long is the season?

The season starts November 11th for 12U - 14U and November 18th for 18U through 15U and ends around June 25th. (Due to the Volleyball Festival)

What do I get for my $1800?

Well if you broke it down you will have about 65 days of instruction not including tournaments which consist of 12 full days of playing.  It averages out to about $20 a day or less than $10 an hour for instruction and coaching plus you get a uniform package that is yours, tons of experience, fun and friendships.  Not bad!

You will need to go to www.azregionvolleyball.org site and register your daughter prior to tryouts.  She will need to bring a copy of birth certificate for tryouts if one is not on file already. She will need to fill out a Tryout Waiver at tryouts.   When accepted to a team she will need paperwork for acceptance signed and the $400 payment.  She will also need to fill out an order form for uniform.

We at UVC look forward to having you part of our family if you have additional questions you may email me at tbeck66@cox.net.
